Yellow-tinted clearcoat? And how could we possibly find out for sure if it`s the thing? And in fact = doesn`t it make them yellow-tinted BFPs very rare and cool? (I just can`t help showin` off a bit :biggrin

If a buyer is looking for a "BFP", the yellow-tinted clear would be a flaw and bring the value of the guitar down for that buyer. I don't think the market for "green" BFPs is that strong.

Case-in-point; Faded Jem777SKs in mint condition will not be worth near as much as unfaded ones.

Jim, I got Your point, man, the fact is that I`m not going to sell (boy, what a sacrilege!) MY LOVELY JEM, it just makes me feel that I posess a special piece of an outstanding music machinery...
I was dreaming of that moment for 6 years, and when ,finally, I got a chance to get my hands on a floral-patterned JEM it turned out to be even more special than I expected it to be! I just can`t tell everybody how happy I am...

I'd like to see a photo.
My BFP is still blue. And I hope it stays that way too.

I know I am late on getting to this topic. *But, I know exactly what you are talking about. *Basically, IMHO, the clear has yellowed from age, smoke, sun, or who knows. *When this happens the yellow and the blue - make a GREEN. * I have seen FPs do this as well. *I guess all I am saying is that it is a BFP that has a deeply yellowed clearcoat.

BFPs are sweet though......in any tint.

MY GREEN 77BFP Jem

Hi all, I'm new here and this is my first post. And what an appropriate topic this is for my first reply.

I happen to have a 77BFP that looks greenish. It's not exactly green actually, but the effect makes it look like a green/blue to blue sunburst. The flowers near the sides of the body are pure blue but as you get to the center of the guitar the flowers get greenish. I has been that way since I've bought it back in 93. I suppose it might have stayed in sunlight a little in the store.
At first I didn't like it but after years I think itlook pretty cool.

My actuall problem is with the neck that looks dirty as hell.

Could have been one of their first attempts at the BFP. *

You guys know of course that the blue floral print is just that - print. *It is a piece of paper/cardboard/photo. *

Maybe while trying to "get it right" the clear coat saturated the photo and changed the color?

Re: MY GREEN 77BFP Jem

Kramom Donīt worry. That is normal in the first Ibanez 77BFP (1991). Usually these 77BFP your color blue becomes in blue-green. I have one and have seen many others. A great hug from Spain.
