My JS-100

2011-11-22_22-53-17_279.jpg

this is my Js-100

custom paint job by me. black sparkle and clear sparkle from auto zone.
things i would do better:
-wet sand base coat
-wet sand and buff clear coat more before putting it all back together.

beacuse it didnt do this, the guitar looks silver from the crowd but is good with all the lights on it.

very attractive color! got lots of complaments from chick and accredited musicians.

The pick ups are neck-59 and bridge is a pearly gates. Great combo!

the strings are the "glow in the black light" strings
Pro's-
-awsome looking
-attention getter
-coating dosent get on your fingers

Con's
-no reasonance rating 3/10
-not good harmonics rating 4/10. really have to work at it
-coating comes off in 8 hours of straight play. (2 gigs, 8 40 min sets, 1 hour set up time)
-dont stretch em' ! i usually stretch my D'Addario's but when i did it to these, i could not get it in tune to save my life!
- coating starts to wear off first in the picking area
- then the coating wears off on the fretboad by the frets
- need A LOT of blacklight to make it good for a show

so for one show, (not an important one) i would suggest these. but have a back up guitar!

my only problem with my JS-100 is that the guitar will go flat when i come back from a dive bomb. i have to do the floyd rose pull up to get it to set right. i put a brand new floyd rose on it and new bridge pins and still have the problem. had it professionaly set up and still same problem.

long story short. i dont play this one as much as i play my Jem7vwh.

Jems 4 Life!

Re: My JS-100

So you used car paint on the guitar, as in compressor machine, nozzle spray etc? thanks for the idea

Re: My JS-100

You could try a little bit of gun oil or sewing machine oil on the pivot screws of the tremolo.
I had a PRS that always went flat after using the trem. This trick solved that problem instantly!
You just need a drop! Don't want the oil to wick down into the wood.

Wow! Sweet looking guitar BUT I wouldn't gig with something with as many tuning problems as you say.

Re: My JS-100

If you hear a click-like sound when you dive to a certain spot, and the same click when you pull up a bit, your nut might be loose. So it might not be the guitar's or the strings fault.

I had the same problem with a brand new UV777PBK I bought a few years back, simply oiled the posts and BINGO it worked perfect, and has done ever since

Re: My JS-100

all of you guys are soo right about the oil. but unfortunatly it still didnt fix it. i dont hear any clicking going up or down.

its a brand new floyd, that was "professionaly installed" at least i thought it was. sure charged me like a pro. he said he spent hours on it. couldnt get it to stay in tune.

anyone wanna buy it?

Re: My JS-100

Is that the new trem in the last photo???? If it is, that aint no Floyd Rose. Buy a decent trem for it and it will probably be fine.

Re: My JS-100

studs might have rounded out the basswood a tad. Rich lubed up my term posts with chapstick. Apparently thats the cats meow..

Re: My JS-100

The bridge pictured is a TRS of some sort buying a Gotoh FR or Original floyd rose would improve the tone.

Like someone mentioned it could be the posts are rounded out in the body and that needs to be fixed as the post will move, however it could also be the strings I couldnt get my original edge to keep tune with Elixr's.

Also try chapstick on the posts where the knife edge sits, check the knives arent worn. is that picture above one of it after supposedly having the original floyd rose installed and payed for?

Sometimes Tech's arent as great as they make out and charge far too much for their abillities..

Check any pic of an original floyd it wont like the bridge thats in the last picture and will always say Floyd Rose on the bass side, along with the baseplate being rectangular and not angled...
