my js10th experience - or, a touch of nirvana

stopped at guitar center today for my routine weekly 'pilgrimage'...
saw a 10th - used, of course, #015 on the electronics cover at the back.
3499.. ouch. *but after stilling my bleeding heart, i played it for about a
half hour... thru a line6 spider 212 (yes, i'm a line6 user * ) ... and
managed to get the elusive shimmering metallic clean tone that
i..have..been..seeking from everywhere. *mild chorus+tape echo+blues
ampmodel+hipass filter+low volume+coiltap set to split+middle position.
and i died.
and went to heaven w/ all the shiny guitars all around me.

then a whole buncha people came and asked 'me' questions about the guitar..
which i gladly answered. *even played some satch for them, LOL - one guy
hummed a satch song he saw on tv and loved, so i played the significant bits
from 'always' for him... it was the song he was looking for. *plus, landed
up answering the salespeoples' questions too.

damn.. what a sweet heartbreaker .....

ps~ have been wondering about putting a hipass filter in my jem for quite a
while now. *ideas/tips?

For $3,499 it should be dead mint and unouched....how was the chrome on it? any flaking, dusting or air bubbles?

Cool guitar!

jems already have the hipass wired in, it's just permanently on.

yes, it's just a capacitor. It actually cuts bass, rather than boosting highs. To boost, you'd need a power source.

Certainly
As you can see, it uses the same 331 capacitor as the Jem, except you can disengage it.

It's 'reversed' so that the correct half of the pickup will be on, when split. Same as turning a regular pickup upside down.

Yeah - it's just that the JS was supposed to come with a Fred in the bridge position and this diagram lists the bridge pickup as a PAF Pro!!!
