My Swirl project is done.

Here she is, finally complete!!.

Basswood body
Ibanez Japan 550 neck
Ibanez Edge tremolo
DiMarzio Breed bridge and neck pickups
DiMarzio True Velvet Single coil
Many coats of poly on the body applied my me.

She plays like a dream and is a complement to my JEM7V due to the body wood and pickups being different. The breed pickups provide a nice vintage tone but with a bit more gain than a standard PAF.

And now for the pics;

It's actually glossier than what it looks like in the pics. The light just hit it at the wrong angle. I really do have to get a good buffer though.

Nice project. That's a real cool swirl; looks like lava to my eyes...

Really like the idea of putting Breeds in to get a different tone happening, don't think some of these projects try that enough. Get some sounds up so we can hear! ;-)

Re: My Swirl project is done.

Looks great. I see you decided against the pickguard. The pickup colors you went with were my first suggestion, and it seems I was right the first time. They blend quite well with the swirl colors.

Re: My Swirl project is done.

Actually, I wasn't quite finished. I did add the pick-guard. I didn't want the body to get all scratched up. I made the pick-guard myself out of a piece of Plexiglas.

Thank you all.

Here are some updated pics.

WOW that color looks fantastic in the sun!

For the extra "push over the cliff" Id say do the neck pocket mod!

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f20/pr...on-110633.html

Its actually super duper easy, and takes a suprisingly little amount of time! Cleans up the entire look immensely if I do say so myself.

I think I might just do that at the next string change. That does look good and is more like my JEM 7.

Use your head, and it will come out great. I recommend BLSO vs Tung oil as well. but thats a subjective opinion at best.

Anyway, another shameless plug. BUY A DAMN BUFFER!

Re: My Swirl project is done.

that swirl looks great. I agree though, a little more gloss and it'll be a real winner.

maybe the pics just don't show it, idk.

great job on the swirl though.
