Need advice on my first JS

Hi all -

So I'm going to take the plunge and get my first JS. Now I've always played RG (Prestige and Premium) and want something different.

My local GC has a used JS1200 (which i have tried and like alot) and another store has a used JS1000 (haven't tried yet). Both have the edge pro and are in great condition.

I also am interested in the JS24P but haven't tried it. I like the single coil in the neck and the 24 frets but am worried about the premium versus prestige quality (my rg1560 prestige plays different than my rg9320 premium). Is premium quality on the 24P better than the RG920 because it's a signature (and later) model?

So how is the JS24P compared to the other JS? I was thinking of getting the 2nd NAMM stock that Rich has as it falls in between the other two in terms of price. Plus i get his awesome set up.

What do you guys think?

thanks in advance,

jeff

Re: Need advice on my first JS

If you can afford a JS1000 or JS1200 definitely get that. The Japanese build quality will be well above the 24P. As for the two the only difference is the neck pickup if they both have Edge-pros so it's not a huge difference. I'd lean towards JS1200 just for the color. My favorite JS that I own is my JS1200 that I got from Rich. I think Rich has a NAMM 1200 too, if you can get it from him with the locking stud mod that would be the best choice.

Unfortunately I just sold the 24P, the NAMM 1200 is the better guitar, as the 2400 is better than the 24P. The Premiums are there to serve a price point and if you can afford the better guitar it is money well spent.

Re: Need advice on my first JS

I owned the actual JS1000 (toot! Toot!) that Joe used on Black Swans and Wormhole wizards and loved the neck feel...super fast and stratty but abstained from really using it as it was oozing with Joe's Mojo so I sold it for a reasonable markup to another fanatic and pit the funds towards a couple of Jem and Universe projects.
I would love to own another JS1000 and would jump at the chance if the right one came around.

Ended up picking up the JS1200 on my home from NYC today...awesome guitar, love the neck! Not sure if I'll play my RG1560 anymore! LOL

That's a great guitar. The Candy Apple Red is such a cool finish. Congrats
