Neon Green colour matching

I am going to change a pickup in my 1990 Jem, but I have heard stories of how the newer dimarzio pickups dont match the colour of the older ones. I dont want two shades of green pickups in my guitar. Is this true?? If so... is the only way around to buy used pickups?

Re: Neon Green colour matching

With more research it appears the problem seems to be with pink single coil covers matching the humbuckers. But I have found nothing on what I want to know... Whether the new green humbuckers match the old green humbuckers?

Re: Neon Green colour matching

Yes, its true even with the green dimarzios. The link rich posted was mine. The best advice I have gotten was to try and buy both pickups at once from the same vendor in order to better your chances. I didn't have a problem with my pink dimarzio's. The single coil pickup cover matched perfectly as well.

Re: Neon Green colour matching

it all depends how faded is your 90's jem's pickup color, for me solid color green knobs did the job.

Re: Neon Green colour matching

Well I just want to replace the bridge pickup. I have the old knobs with a white base (really bright neon green). The pickups dont appear faded.

Re: Neon Green colour matching

Around what year did dimarzio change from being very neon to less neon?
