New 5 pc necks
Help me understand this. No more scarf joints? These "5 pc" necks have that heel (venute or whatever it's technically called) near the headstock. This seems like a good upgrade if you will. Yet I can't help but wonder why. Lately it just seems upgrades are minimal and price hikes are normal.
The 5 pc neck looks amazing and comfy. Is it easier to make, what are the benefits of this style of neck over the original Jem/Uv necks of the past. It seem that the old necks would be warmer and more consistant. The more wood peices you use means more glue and texture, density etc.... Seems like alot of variables.
Is Steve using this style now? Granted Steve can get any damn thing he wants from Ibanez. But the Moto of years ago was he wanted a guitar that could be pulled off the shelf in any music store in the land and have it be the same as what he plays ( relatively speaking of course ). Changing of a neck is a big deal,, especially to someone as sensetive as Steve.
Anyway, would love to hear from the experts here.
