New guitars on the way

So I just made a deal to purchase a JS6 and a JS90th. I have a roughed up JS6 that's been modified but now I will have a very nice one to sit in a case. I also have a JS90th but I scratched it and then ****ed it up trying to get the scratch out so I got that one repainted in that area and the paint doesn't quite match, it's just a slightly lighter shade of the three colors. It's on the back so it's not noticeable but I know it's there. This JS90th will go in case to join my mint 10th, mint PRM and mint 2K-PLT. Got them at quite a deal as well.

Not 100% this deal is going through. I'm being very thorough with the pictures and the seller isn't being the best communicator. We will see what happens.

Nice JS6, must've never played it as there's no rash.

Re: New guitars on the way

It's been refinished. That's why it's a little darker than they usually are.

Gonna have those chrome tops put in the 90th to replace the worn pickups
She will actually loose value if you mess with the stock PUPs. Just sayi'n...

And BTW that is not the 90HAM original hard case. Although that one is better than the original. But once again original equals to more value... I must say that I absolutely love the 90HAM AKA 90Th. I had two but sold, recently, one of them. They are by far the most underrated JS model that I know of! Go figure?

Re: New guitars on the way

I don't buy guitars for resale value I buy them to keep and enjoy for my collection, so I'd rather the pickups look good, than be stock.

Re: New guitars on the way

The 6 also loses value for being refinished probably but again, it looks good to me and that's all I want out of these two guitars.

Re: New guitars on the way

I totally understand you it was just an unpretentious comment. I never played a 6 or a 6000 but with the mahogany body they should sound huge.

I'm curious about your feedback regarding the 90 comparing it with other JS line you own.

Regards,
AK

Re: New guitars on the way

The JS 90th has a much darker sound because of the ebony fretboard. It also kind of sounds a little dirty clean compared to other JSs. I love it as a different option for recording, but it would never be my main guitar because of that sound. (this is based on my other JS90th, maybe it's just that one, I don't know). Visually I think it's the next best JS guitar to the chrome boy.

Re: New guitars on the way

The JS 6 definitely sounds different and also because it's fixed bridge that makes it feel different as well. I have another JS6 which I love and then I have a JS1600 that's been chromed and upgraded with Mo'Joe and Paf Joe and I record a lot with that guitar it sounds fantastic.

Although it sounds different than a regular floating bridge 22 frets JS (900/1000/1200) my ears don't hear/sense the dark sound, however I do hear and feel a slightly "natural tighter/compressed" sound. And I do happen to agree with what you describe as a "dirty clean" tone comparing it with it's siblings. To my ears, they have always sounded pretty much like a true Satch tone straight out of the box comparing with the regular 22 fret JS machines... Which is odd due to the fact that the 90Th is the only JS model ever made with an ebony fretboard. And I am also sure that the type of basswood used on the body makes a difference. The 90Th has an American basswood body as the best JS out there as far as I'm concerned - The JSBD, whereas the regular JS line, made of an unspecified origin basswood (Japan?).

AK
