SWEET! I love the 540R. I'm planning on buying a 24f 540R body off ebay and getting an older 24f wizard neck to put on it. Wish I had your skills/equipment.

The zebra will be beautiful with a nice finish on it.
That stuff smells bad when you're sanding and cutting it doesn't it?

It's not that simple. You'll have to reposition the bridge to adjust for the neck.
Best bet is to get with Nate Perle and tell him what you want--let him make you a body ready to go with that 24 fret neck.

I don't think so. The early square heel 24 fret necks fit fine on a regular 22 fret 540R body. The only difference is that the 24 fret neck has an extended fingerboard to accommodate the extra two frets. That neck will fit perfectly on a 540R, but you won't be able to use a neck pickup because the extension will interfere with the neck pup route.

Back when I was moving guitars on ebay I cut the extensions off of several 24 fret wizard necks and put the necks on radius bodies for people who wanted a wizard neck and a 540R. I made keychain danglies out of the cut off two frets.

I think that there is a 24 fret Satriani guitar now isn't there? Of course, a JS body isn't the same as a 540R body anyway. So, yeah.

Re: New JS style bodies build

I know it will "fit," I'm referring to the scale length.
The measurement of the 12th fret to the trem saddles.
That's where the issues come into play.

I know. The AANJ had issues with scale length between different guitars. But the square heel guitars didn't. As i said, I put an RG wizard neck on a radius body and there were no issues with scale length. YMMV

Re: New JS style bodies build

Yep. A square heel 24 fret neck is just a 22 fret neck with an extension. No change to the scale length.
