Got my wallet ready. But not so ready that Mrs Jono will spend the contents on a new kitchen

Re: New Jem next year?

My prediction - a headless Jem. Not completely sure how the trem would hold up compared to an Edge but it would be pretty cool.

As long as it isn't "something we all would have killed for 25 years ago but have no use for now" I'm willing go along for the ride

Re: New Jem next year?

Hey folks, it's ben a while since I posted here, but have some interesting news to share if you're in the Los Angeles area:

To celebrate Steve Vai’s solo art show featuring art prints and painted guitars, at Fathom Gallery in Los Angeles, CA (on view from Dec 7 - Jan 4, 2020), Steve and Ibanez are making a limited number of special replicas (3 each) of three of Steve’s Art Guitars available to order at the gallery.

Two of the three guitars pictured below. The replicas are visually the same, however will not have a sustainer installed, or a scalloped board. These are NOT production models for next year, by the way.

In addition, Steve will hand-augment the back of the guitar with additional artwork.

Steve’s guitars and artwork will be on view from December 7 to January 4. Art and guitar replica purchasing inquiries can be made through the gallery.

Fathom Gallery 12227 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90025

On view: December 7 - January 4, 2020
Artist Reception: December 14, 7-10pm

I agree.

At the same time, no one is building high-quality short scale electric guitars and there are probably straightforward reasons as to why. But if a Prestige Mikro RG showed up on your doorstep and you played it for a month, I think you would come up with something completely different than anything you've ever played before. If 50 people played a Prestige Mikro RG for a month, new ideas would form and some of those ideas would be musically interesting.

However, within the context of the thread, your point is valid. It would be a hard sell.

Re: New Jem next year?

I hope that the new Jem (which they are introducing in NAMM 2020 according to mr. Vai) will have True Temperament Frets.
That would be wonky ... funky

Even when Kiesel are doing their weird bursts and j customs are available in all sorts of finishes, there’s still not been anything quite like the Multicolour JEMs or the Florals...
I agree with you...I can't comfortably play anything else but a JEM. I have owned 7 total, and now only have three, but will be getting another one after January.

I play in a steady working cover band, and I can tell you that the ladies love when I pull out my Pink JEM JR...Nothing gets them talking like a long haired guy with a pink guitar.
