Re: New Jem next year?

Assuming these images are genuine.
Source is Facebook closed group, so I would wait the official announcement from Ibanez.

I've kept it (77FP) and bought another (777VBK) and other high end ibanez because I just love the necks/playability.

Sure it helps that they look really unique.

I wonder if commercially something like a mid priced Yvette Young Talman Sig would probably sell more, with better margins. The occasional limited Jem is enough for us Jem die hards? If so I'm not sure who the PIA is for...

Surely anyone who wanted a 7Vwh probably has one by now? But I doubt many 7VWH owners will rush out to "upgrade" to a white PIA?
Still I could be wrong....
Who's Yvette Young?

I'm fairly sure that the PIA is intended for guys sort of like me, middle age Vai fans with disposable income. But it turns our I'm only a fan of 80s and 90s Vai, and so I'm not interested in this guitar. I'm only interested in guitars that make me feel like I'm a teenager again.

I don't know who she is either, but my immediate feeling after seeing the pictures, the colors chosen and the dedication to his wife, is that these are aimed more at the ever growing wave of hot female players, while the JEM would still be considered a guys guitar. I don't want on personally, but if I had a girlfriend who was a really great player, I'd be interested in getting one for her.

I could absolutely see Tina S playing one of these.

Would I replace my JEMs with a PIA? No. For me there's no association for that guitar with anything I like musically of Vai's. I'm interested to see if others feel the same and so for me it'll be interesting to see if Vai's "legacy" is enough to sell this guitar, or whether it'll actually be doing better than the JEM has in the last few years!
This will be quite the litmus test of Vai fanboyism.

I'd like to know if Rich punched a hole in the wall, or if he jumped up in joy and punched a hole in the ceiling? i.e. is the switch to the PIA expected to be a cause for celebration or commiseration?

About now I'm feeling kinda like I did when Petrucci left Ibanez for EBMM!!!

Yvette Young : guitarist from covet. Plays lots of alternative tuning tapping stuff with odd meters and poly rhythms

https://youtu.be/_Q1-ETuBg5A

Plays modded ibanez Talmans. Popular newer guitar player alongside people like polyphia who just got MIJ sigs last year.

Sort of shreddy but different. Girl guitar hero?

Oh you're right. They're just priced like MIJ. That's a lot of cash for MII...

Huh? Other than the Genesis, find me an MIJ at that price. And for a next step, MIJ sigs are at _least_ $1000 more, but closer to 1500-2000 more.

She's been around for a few years, with her parents posting videos all the way back to when she was 8 and playing classical guitar. Then as an early teen she decided she wanted to rip the frets off of guitars with some shred pieces, and with the classical background, had much of what she needed already in place.
