This may not belong in the JEM forum, but it's sort-of-a-JEM. That said.
This thing is impossible to photograph. It looks a bit more orange than it really is - the color is more like an old penny. Metallic Brazen Orange (Mopar paint) with a black burst, and the fade-in from the black to the orange just doesn't want to come out in pics. It's also overcast today, which makes taking any pics a pain in the ass.
This guy started it's life as a beat up, worn in RG550:
I wanted to keep as much of the above guitar for this one, other than the body which was just too beat up to refinish. I'll leave the assorted issues with the replacement out of this thread, and just say that this is a Sims body, but only in that Sims CNC'd it and sent it to Mike Sherman, who did an AMAZING job refinishing it. I can't even believe that this is the same neck and fretboard.
Body: Alder JEM H-H with lion claw, handle and JEM style output jack.
Neck: Original RG550 square-heel Wizard, full refret, maple
Bridge: Original RG550 Edge
Pickups: D-Sonic bridge, Air Norton neck
Tuners: Original RG550 Gotoh
Misc: 500k One tone/one vol with 3-way switch
Strings: Elixir 10-46
There's a bit of dust and wax here and there because I'm in the middle of giving it a final buff-up. I wanted to keep the original bridge and especially keep the original Ibanez neck plate on it, and IMO they look pretty awesome since it ends up with a contrast between this shiny new body/neck and this old, worn-in, sexy hardware.
Pardon the bits of dust and wax here and there. Mike literally finished putting it together around midnight last night, and I can't say enough things about what a solid guy he is. (Even if he hates me right now for bringing him this project in the first place..)
Anyway - pics!
