New Jem77V-BK, open grain or crack?

Hi,

Just took delivery of a new Jem77V-BK, noticed a vertical line on the fretboard, looks like either open wood grain, or a very small crack, not drastic but noticeable depending on the light. I'm hoping its nothing to worry about, is it worth me giving the neck a good dose of suitable fretboard oil just in case it's a crack, or is there a suitable filler I could use that'll expand and contact with the wood? Just don't want it getting any worse.

Open Grain!
I've seen this many times, no reason to worry.

I've seen cracks as well. Usually they follow the grain and then continue in a pretty straight line. This is not the case here.

That's minor, I've seen openings like that that run the entire length of a fret, sometimes into the next fret... no big deal as long as it's not so wide you feel it under your fingers.

You should still give it a good oiling, though. When I received my 77vbk new, it looked like a lot of the pictures in ads where the fretboard looked really brown. A good shot of lemon oil and it darkened it up real nice. Ibanez guitars have really really dry fretboards when they arrive new, at least that is my experience.
