A new modified universe

Well, another battered universe arrived, in parts, in a box, had to open the box at the post office, as mr postman wasn't too carefull, but inside, one pwh neck and one burnt and stained pwh body with metal (real metal yo!) scratchplate, and an evo/blaze/tonezone pickups combo.

Anyway, here's the body:

And then I kind of figured, well, that I have the other UV neck, which may look cooler, so I kind of had a little decision making process:

And then finally assembled the guitar as a whole:

Et voila!

Anyway, the nut needs shimming, truss rod needs adjusting, but it all seems to be allright, it's got a brighter sound than the others which is cool. Not convinced by the tone zone in the neck, although it is fairly nice, but I may just try a magnet swap on it as(somewhere) in the depths of my room i've got an alcino8 lying around which may be quite cool...

Still, it just means I've still got the other project to finish now...

Anyway, this is what it looked like for anyone that missed the thread when i bought it:

Oh, and NBUD (New Burnt Universe Day)

Re: A new modified universe

And some shots of many guitars, first all the universe together:

And then the BSB UV with the BSB Jem:

And a close up of the headstock with the decal I got as a test. I'll be putting a diferent one on once i decide on finish and all that!

So far I've shimmed the nut, adjusted the truss rod, and it's all good! Been playing it, and it's got a nice feel to it, so I am pretty happy.

The tone zone in the neck is an odd one, but I intend to put different pickups in it as I already have an evo in the uv7bk. Plus i've never really gotten on with the tone zone in 7 string form. However, it could be cool with a magnet swap, as I think it's the ceramic magnet in it that's making it too harsh.

Re: A new modified universe

nice mods, but you've got to rotate the zebras and lose the chrome domes.

Better yet, put some blue/black bobbin toppers on those pups, or green/black to match the fretmarker dots.

Re: A new modified universe

Nice!

I agree with you on the tone zone. never been a fan of the six version and the seven is pretty poor. Had one in my 2027 for a while but replaced it recently with a D-sonic which Im liking better.

In the neck i would image the TZ is too hot and too trebley. Just too harsh all round...

more pics and clips if you can manage them it looks sweet!
