New project

Ok, I started a new project today that I'm not going to be able to reveal for about a month, although I can assure you that I am posting this in the correct forum.

The reason for this post is that I have spent significantly more money on this project than my bank or wife will allow (usually they are one and the same...lol). Because of this, I have to sell my UV777PBK body (a little hint as to the project). The problem is that I have NO idea what to even ask for it. I don't want to post a classified until I have some sort of idea.

If any of you saw my post in the "Custom Universes" thread then you'll know what the body looks like. For those that haven't seen it, It is post #82 Here:
http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f15/cu...s-89491-6.html

The body has been sanded to 800 grit and is completely free of nick's, dings, and paint...lol

Could you guys help me figure out a value for this body...... just a rough idea is all that I'm looking for.

Thanks a lot folks
Ryc

Re: New project

I've seen that 48 people have viewed this, but no-one has any better clue than I do what to ask for this body.... Not a problem, and thanks for looking all,

I'll pose this another way. If you had to find a body for your UV and this one was the only one that you could find...........what do you think would be too low of a price, and then too high...... like $20/500.

Re: New project

or do you guys think I should keep it.........Maybe paint it antique white like a PWH and put a 1527/7620 neck and hardware on it???? I'm just REALLY at a loss as to what to do with it.

Some of you may know that Myself and others (AlaskaBat, DrStrangenote, ShredMaster) are working on the 9/11 tribute guitars. I've bought several guitars for that project now and thats why I'm thinking about selling this. I need some extra money to call Rich for some new hardware....lol

Re: New project

Just keep it. You never know when it could come in handy. And I don't think there is much demand for a not-factory natural finish. Most people would want the black finish on the guitar for a base coat if they wanted to re finish it anyways.

(maybe the 48 views came from you checking the thread over and over for replies? i'm just saying...)

Re: New project

You should sell it to me!

I'll also add sell it to me cheap lol! All joking aside I might be interested if you can figure out it's value. It will make a good project for me to learn on.

LOL.......... you might be onto something there!!!

actually I check it from the threads page...... but that WAS funny as hell...lol

I have no dreams of it being worth what a factory body is. I just don't know what WOULD be fair. Is $50 fair or to low?? is $500 fair or to low?. I just don't know.

If you talk to the couple of people around here that know me a little bit, you'll find that I'm not a "looking for top dollar" kind of guy. I know my stuff isn't mint, in truth, I play the living s*it out of all my guitars. I put them away wet, and very well used. I just need whatever few dollars back from this last purchase that I can get.

Re: New project

I'd say like 500$ obo.

If someone offers 400$, I'd take it. Considering JEM necks go for 300-400$, it seems reasonable.

That sounds great, I wish there were some floating around ebay or CL to get an idea, but your right....The obo is the best idea.

maybe like best offer over $300??? I know this thing needs work, and I refuse to screw someone here on jemsite.
