A new RG550 vs used JEM77P

There are a bunch of used JEM77Ps available for about the same price as a new RG550 right now. I really like the styling of the JEM77P but the consensus opinion seems to be that the RGs are _so much better_. Which one would you pick? A new RG550 or used JEM77P?

the 550 has the better tremolo...the jem is prettier...in all seriousness you probably need to play an example of each as the neck profiles are a bit different...d.m.

If you can find an orinal 550 from 1990 or earlier in great shape try it there much better and also cheaper now. Back in 87 to 92 those were hi end guitars a new 550 anything Genisses can not be considered hi end there less than an american strat 3 models down from there hi end line. Dont get m wrong I own that strat play it every day and I also owned a 1990 RG 560 so I do know what im saying, those 87 to about 92 RG are much better then what the new ones are

All of these statements are categorically false, dzem.

Why do you think the new rg550 are not high end?

Why do you think the old rg550 bridge are much better?

I have owned/own both. Don't feel any difference when it comes to the bridge, nor in quality.

I do feel that the new rg550 has a wider neck, although it says it has the same dimension.

I also owned a JEM77fp back in the days and that felt way more high end than all my rg's. Also the pickups on the JEM sounded super nice, MUCH better than the Rg's

because he doesn't know squat and is the typical "old stuff" is always better when in reality is just pure nostalgia

the Genesis is a superior guitar for the 5 piece neck alone

why would you buy a 30 year old guitar unless you know for a fact is in perfect condition which you will never know from ebay and other online sales, lots of **** can go wrong in 30s years

i haven't played the 550's so i can't speak about them but yes i've heard the necks are like 2mm wider...the 77p jem is the floral pattern right? i love gravity storms and have put them in a lot of my rg's but i'm a fan of the edge trem and the edge zero trem while similar doesn't feel like an edge...as for the pickups in the 550's? i never liked them on the old or the new ones...again it just comes down to what you prefer...if you really want a jem might i suggest the sfg jem with the edge trem?...d.m.

p.s. the bfp jem is still much prettier
