NGD '00 Jem 7VWH

Man I had to post! It's a crazy long story but I'll try and keep it brief... I've had a few Jems, 7DBK, 90HAM, VWH, then a VBK (sorry again Rich). All were awesome! I had this PRS CE24 on my wall though that I've had since '95 and I was the only owner. Everytime I'd get a Jem though I would touch the PRS, then I'd think "damn I can't have too many guitars" and I'd sell the Jem and keep he PRS for sentimental reasons (the VBK had to go for other life-curveball reasons). So the Jems would come and go and the PRS would stay and never get played.

Finally I just said F it and put the PRS on eBay...Aaaand it didn't hit the reserve. I did some shopping and there were quite a few Jems in the 14-1500 range but none that were just perfect.
I said screw it and put the PRS back on the 'bay with a much lower reserve. So while it's on eBay, the wife and I are getting ready for a holiday overnight trip to Portland. I think, ah hell I'll just check craigslist in Portland for the hell of it. Boom, 2000 7vwh. Cheap. I called the guy, we had a great conversation and met the next day!

He brought it in to a Starbucks and opened the case and I was blown away. Almost NOS condition. No corrosion on the gold but there was some minor wear from palming. Two pin size knicks in the body and a fretboard that hadn't seen action in forever and covered with gunk. The screws are still gold!

Anyhoo, after some spit, polish, steel wool and of course new strings, she is in wonderful condition. It needs a little love to the studs I think and a tweak on the truss rod but it's 95% perfect as is. The ebony/alder/Evo combination is amazing!

Long story short, the right Jem is out there, just be patient, even though that is very hard to do!
Excuse the bathroom pic, I'll grab something better later!

Re: NGD '00 Jem 7VWH

I just stuffed myself full of food: to the point where I'm sick to my stomach in fact. Nothing could possibly make me hungry at this point. The thought of food is making me neausous just thinking about it.

I saw this- my mouth is ****ing watering at the sight of that perfect condition guitar. The untarnished bridge is enough to make my mouth water

Congrats on that score man!

Re: NGD '00 Jem 7VWH

You know, part of me wonders the authenticity! It's stamped on the neck and body and everything but it is so clean. I pulled the trem and back plate (duh) last night and there's no crud under the back plate, the springs are shiny and best of all it has locking studs on it. I thought 2000 was a little early for locking studs?

I'm wrestling with the setup a bit. Pull ups would cause the trem to bottom out on the route cavity so I raised the trem and now I'm working against the strings fretting out. Such good times!

Re: NGD '00 Jem 7VWH

Congrats on your VWH. Such a classy looking guitar and sounds better than anything out there. I love my '93. Ebony, alder and Evos are the top of my list along with the 6105 frets and scallops. They have been using locking studs since the late 80's by the way.

Re: NGD '00 Jem 7VWH

The previous owner probably chipped that tiny bit off the headstock and felt so bad he put it in the case and was too afraid to touch it.
