NGD 777DY

It just arrived yesterday, its a 91 DY that comes with a story behind it. I purchased this guitar about 8 months ago from its original owner, who, (I still donīt understand why) got tired of the yellow finish and decided to spray paint the body and headstock to black. It was a terrible job and it really looked bad. The neck was dirty as hell and the guitar was just not well kept (he also changed the pickups) at all.

I got it cheap and decided to but her back all original. Paint got stripped and repainted and got back all her original components, and now she is Sharp again!

Re: NGD 777DY

This is how the guitar looked when I bought it.. The neck was really nasty and the paint job horrible...

Nice restoration. Whatever was the previous owner thinking? Is there a shortage of black guitars in the world???!!

Re: NGD 777DY

I bet you got it cheap!
There wasn't much left of the original guitar, just the neck really.
Who did the paint job for you?

Re: NGD 777DY

Why on earth do you buy a DY if you want a black guitar? There aren't enough black guitars out there already?? Nice restoration though, love me some DYs

Re: NGD 777DY

Well, I saw this Jem in la local ad. The guy sent me pics and he told me that it was an original DY but that he got bored of the color and painted it black himself one day. He also changed the pick-ups (but kept the originals), as with the knobs. The neck was so full of crap that it was just terrible. It was one of the worst treated Jems that I have ever seen...

I then got it for a very good price and I started the reconstruction process.
I stripped everything down and sent the body and neck to a great painter here in Spain. He worked on the paint for 2 months. While we were removing the black paint, the original yellow paint appeared...

Great restoration! The first pic of the restoration progress can inspire a Bee
