NGD: '99 FP

Although this is totally overshadowed by Rich's awesome NGD, I added something new to the lineup. It's a '99 FP and it's a hell of a nice guitar. I bought it to be my main player and was really surprised how nice the guitar was when I received it. Also had the front pattern I was after. Neck was very clean and is nicely quartersawn, much more so than older necks I have. Also extremely little fret wear. Only real complaint about it is that the fretboard edges could be a little more rounded, so it isn't as comfortable to play as some of my older stuff. Anyway, enjoy!

With pictures that nice you have nothing to feel overshadowed about! How many did you have to take to get perfect ones like that?!

Happy NGD!

Re: NGD: '99 FP

LOL thanks! It's all about waiting for the right lighting to get the good pics

I actually took only one shot of the whole guitar and wasn't 100% happy with it. By the way, I messed with my '91 a bit more and the neck isn't back bowing at all, so whatever musikron did must have fixed the neck. It actually sets up really nice, the neck is just really thin for a Jem, which I didn't like.

For comparison purposes, took some shots of the '91, which I'm going to sell.

At least he did something right.

One shot of that one too? You must be a wiz at photoshop if you didn't like that shot to begin with!

Re: NGD: '99 FP

The '91 is one shot and is almost straight out of the camera.

Brightness +2, Contrast +2, very slight tweak of the hue on the reds and a little bit of Unsharp Mask, which sharpens the image despite what it sounds like it does.

The '99 took a lot more work. So uh yeah, I'm pretty good at Photoshop

Really though, the most critical thing is the lighting. I only shoot on sunny days and lay the guitars on that fuzzy blanket a few feet from the window. If you shoot during the middle of the day, you get a nice indirect light that captures the colors pretty accurately. I also have a pretty good camera.

That explains why my 3AM halogen with ok camera pictures always look like they look. Bad

I always wanted to put up a tent in the backyard to shoot pics in, get all that indirect sun without having to worry about reflecting the sky above which ruins outside pics. Maybe someday.

Re: NGD: '99 FP

Wow....... WOW!!

Nice one Jess!!! did you know the neck was quartered like that??? or was it a nice surprise??

I've honestly never seen another Ibby with a truly quartersawn one piece neck like that.....awesome.

So is there a "buddy" discount/charity donation going on the '91?........ You KNOW I still need a JEM

Re: NGD: '99 FP

Come on man, I showered today!

And I'm not loaded, yet. A few more minutes of these lefties and I will be though!

The couch would be just fine in some frat house basement with a 30w bulb 20' away. But that's about it!
