Sup guys! Long time no post... back on the Ibanez train...
So I perused about ten pawn shops in Arkansas and I found a gem
Very good condition js1000 pearl black! Picked it up for $450 flat with OHSC.
At first I was disappointed. I play thru a peavey triple xxx 2x12 + crate 4x12... only effects boss bf-3 (flanger, KILLER pedal btw)... and the gain was muffled, indistinct...
So I raised the bridge pick up... violà, much better.
A few quick questions: the low pass filter on the vol knob is broken... knob just comes out. ideas on fixing or replacing it? (Mid boost maybe?).
Also... the FRED is taking some adjustment... killer blues tone... pretty rocking high gain with some EQ adjustments.
Replace for higher gain? (80s thrash)... was thinking JB? Any input on bridge pickups with this guitar?
Edit: thoroughly becoming addicted to this JS
. The white guitar is my primary axe, another pawn shop gem: MIJ '86 Yamaha SE700E (mod: licensed floyd, duncan pearly gates); its one of the finest guitars I have ever owned. It sports an alder body, maple neck, ebony fretboard...
So compared with basswood on the same amp (peavey triple xx), these settings helped my JS
Tonally, in a high gain setting, you have to modify the EQ for the FRED; boost the treble, cut the mids... increase gain...
But I found a sweet medium. Ive owned 2 Ibanez Prestiges and a vintage 76 CN-350...
The JS1000BP is superior to them all, neckwise, tonally...
Its an addictive guitar. The clean tones are unparalleled. I am just curious if a JB can get me the high gain tone I want.
