NGD (JS2400 finally came)

Ordered one of these for myself and it finally came yesterday. I'm not usually a fan of rails-style pickups, but this works out really well! Very lovely guitar. I don't play like Joe by any means, but this guitar does alot and covers alot of tones, and I'm lovin' the neck lots. Set it up with 11's. Anyway...I'll shut up. Here it is mixing with some of the older workhorses.

Too bad they didn't release that in that lovely sky blue from the JS prototype thread. Oh yeah, I forgot. Ibanez is afraid of color now. :P

I dunno yet... I don't preconcieve the names. Something has to happen to it or something has to remind me of it. They get names in various ways, but never like "I'm buying a JS2400 to name it Fred". We'll see...

Re: NGD (JS2400 finally came)

thanx guys.

I took it to rehearsal tonite and it's definitely a keeper. It's always kinda a gamble to order new things you can't try and can't find reviews on. But this guitar is great. I have always kinda stayed away from the Satch models because the bodies feel small to me. I've been an RG/Jem guy since I was like 14 or so. Everytime I tried JS guitars, I just didn't really interact all that well with them. But it's later in life and my tastes have changed alot. I still favor the RG body shape, but this guitar is definitely worth the wait.

I have to say my favorite part is the oldest part. I'm so happy to have another guitar with the Original Edge trem...

Awesome looking guitar, just know it would play great too.. How does the neck feel compared to Jems/RG's??

it sounds funny but the neck is the neck I always wished I'd find on good Fenders. It feels like a good strat neck to me. Thicker than the RG's and rounder than the Jem on the back where my thumb sits. I have a '76 strat, and it's similar to that, but wider from E-to-E.

Sounds cool... I'm a fan of fender necks as they seem to fit me ok - do seem to vary plenty though. Will have to have a try of a JS one of these days :-)

I took the 2400 over to a bud's house last nite and let him try it. He owns nothing but strats and teles and loved it. Even though their necks have filled out a bit over the years, people still have that "Ibanez = skinny chicken neck" mentality and automatically think it's got some 80's Wizard neck. lol He played it for the rest of the nite while I was there...didn't even complain about the trem. (He blocks all of his)

I have a JS-6 in storage but never used it. This one I think is definitely gonna be in my main home rotation. I'm still not 100% in love with the body of the JS, but it's a beautiful playing guitar.

Anyone "on the fence" about getting one should call Rich up and do it. The trem alone was worth it for me. (Original Edge lover always here...)

Which fender neck is the JS neck closest to? Telecaster? Stratocaster? I have a Telecaster and I like the neck of that one a lot.

The JS6 neck I don't love on the other hand. It is different from the JS1s and different from what ended up being the standard JS neck.
