NGD: Orange Multi Color (with a world Flavor ;-) )

In the year 2008, i decided to make MY version of a dream guitar....

Studying all theads I could, I decided to go for a JEM body copy (more or less), with an ORANGE Multicolor swirl (who could argue???) while intendind to use the ebony fingerboard neck and the hardwear from my yellow Jem-ified RG 550...

As I had secured a swirl with Herc (Yes, the infamous Herc Fede), next thing was to decide the wood body and the luthier that was going to cut it, as the initial plan was the body to be swirled before Xmas 2008 .....

After quite a few contacts, I decided to work with Jaden Rose, a Ventor here, who also proved to be a very nice person and a very fine luthier. The body was made from swamp ash

The timing was very spot on AND quick!!!

Body was shipped directly to Herc.....

Re: NGD: Orange Multi Color (with a world Flavor ;-) )

As the body was on its way to Herc, it grew in me that the best thing to do was to built a whole new guitar (as my 40+ collection was not enough ;-) )....

So I turned to E.T. Guitars in Australia, and we decided with Ernie to go for a Wizard II neck with an ebony fingerboard, disappearing pyramids, jumbo frets and a bubinga strip. As my brother return from Ia's Ekhlund summer camp in August 2009 (yes, the body by that time was just primed due to Herc's health problems)

, he introduced me to True temperament frets. Since Steve Vai adopted these frets, who was I that I wouldn't follow ;-). So I secured the fretting in Sweden and I contacted both Anders (TTfrets) and Ernie (ET Guitars) where to place the inlays so they wouldnt interfere with the frets.

This is the final result (fretless neck) that was shipped to Sweden

Notice the orange dots as side markers....

Next thing to be taken care of were the pickups; I turned to William Villex for a new set of his pickups. I was very pleased with the sound of my MVF (refer to my other thread), I decided to have him built these pickups as well...
Extra routing was demanded for the booster and the extra depth of Villex pick-ups
See??? If everything was done on time, It would create a greater hussle to achieve the visionairre guitar

To make a long story short, by February 2010, body was swirled and clearcoated.....

and the neck was fretted....

and both came to Greece

along with the pickups

to create the legend :-D

Gotta say I *love* what you've done! Really envy you in making no compromises, it looks like you've used the best people for every part of this build!
Cheers,
(post a decent sized picture (or a link to one..) when it's assembled).

Awesome! I love TT frets. They are one thing that everyone should have, or at least try once in their guitar playing career.

The swirl looks awesome too!

Re: NGD: Orange Multi Color (with a world Flavor ;-) )

Trem was decided to be a Low Pro Edge (cosmo black of course) and after some adjusting of the neck cavity, neck was connected to the body (thanks Rich for the Screws and ferrules), soldering was done to the electric circuit

and both orange and black knobs were tried on

and the same was done for the strap

Finally, I decided to use black controls for Volume and mid-control, black switching tip, black attachments for the strap-lock, orange neon strap and black control with orange tip for the passive booster

Re: NGD: Orange Multi Color (with a world Flavor ;-) )

I am still adjusting the trem because the springs are a little stiff (due they are new).
By December, I'll have a video ready - this is a promise :-)
