NGD. whoop!

I am looking forward to modding this up! The jem505 is like a "clean slate" jem. All of the quality of a made in japan ibanez and all the quality components, but none of the vai signature ostentation.

I got it secondhand dirt cheap yesterday, this guitar has never been used!. Its immaculate. I set it up last night. Cleaned it up, replaced the rusty strings, Removed the nut shims, tweaked the truss rod etc

I had my heart set on bareknuckle juggernaughts for this but now I have played it its natural sound is rather muddy, so now I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

Unfortunately the locking screws are missing from my trem mount posts. Where can I get replacements or even better the old design of post (which I prefer)

Order the posts and lockers from Rich @ibanezrules, that's what i did for my 2550, took about 2 weeks to arrive in the UK.

Re: NGD. whoop!

Cheers guys.

I am going to replace the pick and truss guard with a nice warm wooden one. Change the hat knobs to newer cosmo black ones.
Fancy bespoke weathered, battered humbuckers. Maybe loose the s1 middle. Get a brass block for the trem. And potentially scallop to match other jems boards (not that I feel its practical, just more jemmy)

The set screws should be in with the tools. There was a year when they did not install them into the studs.

Re: NGD. whoop!

Hi Rich,

I got this second hand and the screws were missing. I only found out after dismantle and set up.

Are they the same size as the older 6mm hex wrench hight adjustmet screw lock nuts? If so I have managed to trsck some down.

Re: NGD. whoop!

Nope, they are not the same. I need big screws or the old hight adjustmet posts.

The EZ studs use 2mm drive set screws.

Re: NGD. whoop!

These are the replacement screws I got. They are too small for this task.

They are right for lo-pro post.

Re: NGD. whoop!

Looks kinda like my old axe, happy NGD, sadly mine was jacked from a show years ago and then turned up in a pawn shop in Winnipeg but was sold before I could get it back.

I really wouldn't know what to do if I buy a guitar, and then I got to know such a background.
