I haven't played my JS1000 in a while and it's been sitting in my guitar room untouched on a Hercules stand. Lately, I've noticed that every time I switch pickups (bridge or neck), I get an annoying buzzing sound and it goes away when both pickups are engaged (middle position). I was also having some crackle on the pots (indicative of dirty pots), so I sprayed some Deoxit D5 in there and now, the pots are nice and silent when turning the volume up or down and adjusting the treble. I sprayed some Deoxit on the toggle switch as well in hopes that this noise was going to go away but, it's still there (I sprayed it from the top of the switch because I didn't know how else to get it in there). All the wiring in the guitar is stock and I'm kinda stumped as to what it could be. Is there a better way to spray the contact cleaner in that switch? Or should I do it from the bottom? I noticed that there are 3 tiny holes on the bottom of that toggle switch....
In terms of equipment, this is what I've used:
Guitar into Peavey JSX Head (noise)
Guitar into RJM Rack Gizmo and Effect Gizmo into Peavey JSX Combo (noise)
Guitar into Eleven Rack into Tech 21 Power Engine 60 (noise)
Mogami Platinum 20ft with Neutrik Silent Plug on one end and regular Neutrik Plug on the other end (noise)
Fender Standard Whirlwind instrument cable (noise)
I've never had an issue with this guitar in terms of noise until now and the same can be said for the cables.
Any ideas would be helpful.
This video shows exactly the type of noise I'm hearing. Fast forward to 2 minutes for the bridge (noise), 2:24 for both pickups (no noise), and 2:39 for the neck (noise again). Although this isn't the same guitar, the same type of noise occurs, which begs the question.. Is the same symptom occurring in any guitar with a HH configuration? And, if so, is that something that just can't be remedied?
