hey guys, i know this is probably a reoccurring topic but i'm a noob and i need help! I recently purchased a 01 or 02 js100. Everything looks fine, and the action is SUPER LOW! The previous owner had it setup at guitar center. I however have always setup my own guitars. (mostly via Rich's awesome website, Props to Rich!) The action is a little lower than i would like but its ok, the only problem is i have open string buzzing on the g string. I have read about this on many websites and from what i deciphered the nut must be raised. So my question is do i just stick something flat under the nut until the buzzing goes away?
Or maybe replace the nut - I came across this same problem on a S series once. Raising it did nothing, but replacing the whole thing solved it. It's only a few bucks from Ibanez's online store.
you probably didn't raise it enough, or there was something wrong in the string grooves that had the open strings buzz. you better raise it before replace it. 99 on 100 is the cause of open string buzz, and you also wouldn't spend a cent.
