OPINIONS WANTED: JEM7VWH vs. JEM7VSBL

I'm in the market for a new or newer JEM7V. I've noticed that there are many VWH models floating around, but very few SBLs. There is a little difference in price. I don't understand the disparity. So, I'd like your opinions as to why this is. Do most folks not like the SBLs? Or is it a matter of production? Thanks for your help!

It could be both.

Steve hasn't been pictured with the SBL, so few people are likely aware of its existence. It's also a bit of an odd combination of vintage and shred looks. Some people might find the blue and white combo a bit too "traditional" looking.

I should've started this in JEM & UNIVERSE forum, not GEAR & EQUIPMENT. (Hey, I'm a newbie!) Can it be moved?

a moderator will move it eventually.

Go with the SBL. It looks awesome. besides, too many wannabes go with the VWH just cos SV uses it.

Here are my opinions...having played both brand new at trade shows.

The VSBL:

First off, the blue inlays on rosewood....err...blue doesn't look too good on brown...would be better off on ebony...don't understand why they would make it rosewood, when they know alder and ebony match perfectly.

The pickguard is really plain...they could have done a little bit more with it...I agree with the fact it makes it very traditional looking.

The pewter hardware is nice though

The VWH: Beautiful guitar. The inlays are both pearl and abalone. They look great on the ebony fretboard...they stand out.

The ebony and alder produce nice sustain...and the ebony fretboard itself allows for smooth bending

But really it all comes down to the typical phrase "personal choice"

I played them both and have owned a couple of VWH's. Not much difference in playability to me, but I like the subtle looks of the VSBL. If I had the choice, I would take the VSBL, simply because I haven't had on yet and in person, the blue is beautiful ;-)

NOOOOO!! Not the blue. Not the blue

In the pictures the blue looks nice. But in real, its sparkly!!! But then again it's a matter of personal preference

It's a subtle sparkle and pretty sparse for a sparkle paint.

I want to reiterate that the color is a matter of personal preference. Even the white I find too gaudy with all that gold scres and tremelo around. But some find it nice. Actually the JEM VWH and SBL are quite handsome in architecture overall.

really, all that should matter is the feel of the fretboard. The vwh has ebony and the sbl has rosewood. Personally, I hate the feeling of rosewood, although I have a few guitars equipped with it. Rosewood makes me feel sluggish, where ebony is very hard and makes me feel like i can just fly. Again, however, it's all about which feels better to you. You can always get another paint job (hot pink, anyone?).

A guy I talked to that had both said the VSBL had a thicker neck. True/false?

I think the VBSL plays better, but it could have been setup better than the VWH I tried playing. I am buying a VWH this weekend..a used one.. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited

After checking out the VBSL last night again, I must admit that the color is not all that bad! It also has nice pewter tremolo.
