Picked up my first JS today.

I've been procrastinating for ever. When this little girl popped up i couldn't resist the temptation. Very glad i did.

Thanks also to Rich for pushing me over the line.

Wait....before too long you'll be trying to hunt down the harder to find ones.
Looks like it's in good shape. If it's from rich, it's likely very nice.

I've always liked the color of that one. They look really nice under lights too.

Yep, happens to many JS fans... You will need DEEP pockets to get into the JS3,4,5 stuff...unless you find someone that doesn't know what they have AND...IF....IF you can find any for sale at all. Last JS3 that was offered on the bay a few months ago they were asking $20K+. I think he had the buy it now price at $27,000 if I remember correctly. How do you know what they really are worth? Most people that own these have some sort of "covenant" not to disclose price paid.....lol.

I've been looking at the Ibanez catalog archives on their website recently, and noticed the "Limited Edition - special order only" notes that were attached to those model listings.

Makes you wonder, back then would everyone have got their orders filled for those... whether it be 50, 100, 200, etc. would they have kept producing those "to order" for as long as they had buyers dropping deposits? Or was there some non-disclosed limit of how many were produced ahead of time and only until that inventory was depleted?

I've wondered about that, too. If you look at the price list, there's an $1100 premium to go from the JS1 to a JS3 but only a $600 premium over an FP Jem. Obviously they sold gobs of FP's and I would think that someone dropping that kind of money on a Jem could swing an extra $600 for a JS3.

But I guess if people either didn't like the JS or didn't realize what the future value of them would be, they would stay away. That or paying $1100 for a custom paint job seemed too steep. Any of those could have kept production numbers really low. Even the JS4 and JS5, which are both kind of terrible finishes, are worth a ton. I'd love to know if either of those models even made it to 20 guitars.

Thems fightin wurds round these parts!

Obviously that only means you haven't seen one in person, or you'd probably have a different opinion. Unless you just have very poor taste, which is always possible

Re: Picked up my first JS today.

Few guitars are as good as that one with Ibanez or JS line.

I saw a beat up BP 1000 but I didn't go for it but maybe I should have. It looked like it had been on the road with Steve Vai, but it otherwise played perfectly.
