Plastic or metal?

I REALLY prefer the plastic tophat volume/tone knobs, but alot of people (including vai) have metal knobs. Just wondering what you guys like? And before all the comments come about the metal knobs only being on a couple of vais guitars and why they are there i already know this info i want to know how you all feel and why?

Re: Plastic or metal?

I like plastic because I like pick guards. I'm not as fond of super strats that don't have them.

Re: Plastic or metal?

I like the plastic tophat knobs way better too...maybe cuz I've spent so many years playing fender strats... I'm also with Redtiger on pickguards...again maybe cuz I've always loved strats...one of the first things I do when I get an new Ibanez guitar is put the plastic tophat knobs on...I also love doing volume swells and I seem to like the ways those knobs feel better...

Re: Plastic or metal?

I definitely prefer the look and heavier feel of metal knobs but at the same time I don't mind plastic ones.

I agree with you completely lol , I prefer the look of metal knobs, but they are so easy to replace its never been a concern of mine That said, all my guitars have metal knobs except my strat lol, either came that way or swapped them out O.o

no way!
metal ones just slip from my fingers.
have always used plastic ones from the early days.
they get a better grip, though.

That's cool cause sometimes your guitar would have an open or close sound
