Smile PLEASE HELP: Is this the actual Bad Horsie guitar Steve used!

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone was knowledgable enough about Steve and the Bad Horsie to know if the guitar in the link above is one of Steve's or just a reproduction done by someone.
Thanks

Looks like it. The one Vai uses is a heavily modified BRMR with fretboard LED's and a sustainer.

I've seen that one on Craigslist in Canada a few times over the past several months.

Re: PLEASE HELP: Is this the actual Bad Horsie guitar Steve used!

Most probably a Bad Horsie fan page. I noted a guitar that had the sustainer in the middle pickup position (the one with the Gotoh trem). I haven't thought of that, and it really is a nice idea since I like to use the normal neck pickup on my guitar and it looks cleaner. I just don't know if it works the same in that position, but I can't see why not...

Re: PLEASE HELP: Is this the actual Bad Horsie guitar Steve used!

Well, some of the guitars in the reflections are guitars that I know to be the work of SIMS Custom in the UK (i.e. the Hendrix 'Hear My Voice' Strat). SIMS also did the Bad Horsie LED work. Therefore I would assume that this guitar is indeed the real Bad Horsie, and that these were pictures taken by SIMS while they had her in to do the work.

Thanks guys. Does anyone know how much a Bad Horsie model with LEDs and Sustainer and fretboard laser used by Steve would be worth?

I haven't checked Vai's website, but it looks like this is a modified DBK in these pics. Slides 2 and 3 seem to show a DBK-like texture finish on the back and I didn't think Vai's had that....but I don't know for sure.

Re: PLEASE HELP: Is this the actual Bad Horsie guitar Steve used!

That's not THE bad horsie. Look at the knob configuration, as well as where the sustainer switches are placed. On the REAL bad horsie, the knobs are standard black skirt knobs, and the sustainer switches/knob are near the tone knob, and there's no silver knob on the bad horsie. Otherwise, that looks like a fairly close replica.

AND the sustainer unit is in the neck slot, not the middle slot.

EDIT: If you need more proof that the guitar isn't the bad horsie, look at the first picture on the left side, it's Vai playing MOJO, the real bad horsie (well, pre-Neville). Compare the control options on MOJO to the control options on the guitar that's shown modded.

is it possible to have someone fit LED's like this to let's say a jem neck? Is it pricey?

Martin (Sims UK) can and will do it and as was mentioned did Vai's B.H. He also did the chrome vine in my Vrmr and it did not compromise the playablility in the least

I'll refrain from pics

Shouldn't be TOO pricey Hit him up for a quote!

Mods, I was wondering if their was anyway to lock this thread. I apologise for the inconvenience and thanks to everyone who responded, definately help me discover the guitar was never owned by Steve at anytime.
