Poor quality UV777bk !! - They should be ashamed !

Hey

I tried out a UV777Bk today, and I was really disappointed with the attention to detail. The inlaywork was horrible. I could have done it better myself, even after a few drinks.

The pyramids were inaccurate, and they had used a lot of filling beetween the fretboardwood and the actual inlay.
The fretboardwood itself was not dark enough if you ask me.

I am sure I was just unlucky with the uv i tried, but nevertheless,- is ibanez getting sloppy !! Is this a tendency ??The guitar pictured here on jemsite is a much nicer one. I am sure most bk`s are better quality, but I got a bit worried. Have you had similar experiences ???

Bronze, did you get your UVMC yet? Mine will be here in a few days. As far as the UV777BK, I've seen many that the inlay work was perfect. Maybe the one you checked out was made on a Friday after lunch. --rvj

What you're saying about the UV777bk worries me big time. I'm saving up and was planning to buy one this spring and I was going to order it without seeing it first. I think I'll have to reconsider my buying method now.

Salem, go ahead and order it. Ask the dealer if they will give you a full refund if there are any flaws. If not, find another dealer who will. --rvj

What can I say, I love mine! *I think the quality is as high as on any guitar I have ever seen, honestly! *Must have just been one from a bad batch that you checked out....

Poor quality UV777bk !!

I gotta say I wasn't blown away with the craftsmanship of my '98 UV777BK (which I've since sold). *My main beefs were as follows:

- There was what appeared to be glue in the rosewood near the 12th fret inlay - very noticeable as it was white in color in the pores of the dark rosewood.
- There were what appeared to be sanding or file grooves near the locking nut as opposed to being sanded smooth.
- Even with enough relief in the neck, I always had slight buzzing on the second fret high E string. *In hindsight, I probably needed a minor fret leveling but when you're spending that kind of money...

On a more positive note, I absolutely love my RG2027 which has no flaws as far as I can tell - just a perfectly made guitar with beautiful mahogany body, dark consistent rosewood board (which looks kick ace with no inlays), and nice maple neck...

I am sure I was just unlucky with the one i tried, but I would not buy one without seeing/trying it first.

If you find a good dealer, your problems are solved !

Hmmmm... interesting.
I must say I'm perfectly satisfied with workmanship on my UV777PBK. Everything is done the way it should be. I think that fretboard 'dried out', for that matter. Rosewood has to be frequently cleaned with oils for that use.
Wait... I forgot. When I bought my new UV777PBK the pickguard was wrongly cut near EDGE. No problem for me and my filler... but it lowered the price I paid for something like 30%. I did some "This is outrageous!!!" screaming to the salesman and...
