Proud Owner - My universe arrived

After a surprisingly short wait, my UV777BK arrived from the states today.
This has had two effects - my housemates are annoyed at the noise and I still have a silly grin on my face.
Most impressed with the thing too. It is 2nd hand but you'd probably never tell - scratchplatch still shiny and unscratched, no fret wear - a class act all round. Anyway here are a few observations....

Being the first 7 string I have ever played (let alone owned) it took a few minutes for the fingers to fall into the right place; and spent an aweful lot of time playing some very low chords....the neck feels a little weird at first, and playing some 'thumb over' chords proved a little tricky.

AANJ - unbelievable. The difference between the top access on my Jem is suprisingy big.

P'ups - man that bridge picku throws out a bit of level doesn't it!

Anyway - I'm going back to playing for a bit longer...

Congrats Pete!

I want one very badly myself. Sadly I have never even tried a 7 yet. I don't dare to go into a store for a test. The GAS would probably drive me to financial ruin instantly.

Enjoy!

I am holding that guitar directly responsible if my performance at work today is below par....spent ages playing it last night - only got about 4 hours sleep.

My fingers ache today too...but it was all worth it.

Now all it needs is a name....

It was fun to start with, we got along just fine.
Then you gradually drift apart until one day, you wake up and realise it was never meant to be, and it is best just to call it quits and go your separate ways.....

Oh how guitar ownership is like love....

Bye Bye my little UV, maybe we will meet again some time....

Pete, be patient. I know some seven stringers that told me it took months to get fully accustomed to. I personally don't own one but I've played several. It feels ok until I start reaching the upper frets, then it feels like a completely different guitar. When I first got my 7VWH, it took a while to get used to the thin neck. Since then I've purchased two more. Now, I play my Jems exclusively. Hang in there. --rvj
