Pulling the trigger...7VWH

About to acquire this one in a trade deal after a dangerous encounter with a fake a few weeks back. I believe this one fits the spec. There was some question raised about 'Ibanez' appearing on the trem, but I am told that this is legit on this one. The pickups have been changed out for a Dimarzio Steve Special and Air Norton in the bridge, which I'll try out before I make a decision as to return to stock pickups:

Re: Pulling the trigger...7VWH

It looks like that trem is trying to be a Lo-Pro, in which case it should NOT say Ibanez on it. Beyond that, a Jem with a 5-piece neck shouldn't have a Lo-Pro in the first place. The pictures of the trem aren't really good enough to judge though. Also, you should get the serial number and investigate that.

Re: Pulling the trigger...7VWH

Ibanez rules WILL NOT sell you a fake.
The Jem in those pics have been modified. The Edge Pro, Evo's are not there. I assume it is the real deal holyfield.

The fakes are getting better and better everytime you see them.

I don't think Jems have a volute. I also think that a guitar wouldn't have a volute and rear mounting nut screws.

I think it's a fake...

What is the volute? i am not sure what that is.
Also another minor thing is the trem back plate is solid pearl. But then again that would be easy to change anyway.

If the OP could post up some close ups of trem and headstock, that would help.

Edge Pro..."Rich" emailed me said it's not a fake.

Re: Pulling the trigger...7VWH

Pic is not great, but doesn't look like Edge Pro.

I still think she is legit anyway. Just has hardware changes.

A volute is the little "bump" in the neck right by the headstock. You see in the 4th picture down where it shows the back of the headstock? That little bump under the nut screws is the volute. Again, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't put rear mounting nut screws on a guitar with a volute.

Yes, they do.

Re: Pulling the trigger...7VWH

Mine has them there. Seems no problem there.

The specs are not going to help here from a few pics. The hardware has been changed on the Jem.
I still think it's genuine though.

That guitar is on my craigslist, and looks legit. What are you trading for it?
