Question Are Pyramid Inlays made of 1-pcs-inlays or parts?

Are the clear inlay plastics on the JEM Pyramid necks mounted in one-pieces or in parts, one part for each different colour - paper bit it covers?

If they are in parts, the adjacent sides must be (are) glued together, or?

Anyone have experience in mounting/glueing them?

One piece as far as I know and obviously the colored paper is different pieces. The other method is different pieces of colored plastic instead of clear pieces with colored paper which the pieces would just be glued into place, not necessarily glued togther per say, but glued into place like a puzzle piece.

I have seen some DY (at Harris site?) with indications of multi-Parts assembly, not uni-pieces.

Wonder about the durability on this Piece-method, but as it all are sanded plane, maybe not.

To get rid of an annoying line in the inlay is the concern here.

Most bewildering is how they did avoid getting glue on the inlay paper.

My DY ('88 ) uses individual pieces of clear for each color. If you just look closely and turn the guitar to the side a little, it's easy to see, because each section is a millimeter or so thick, so you can see the edges go down to the paper.

The fit is so good that I'd imagine there were large individual sheets of each color bonded to sheets of the clear inlay plastic, so that when cut to size, the paper and plastic were cut at the same time.

EDIT: A photo of mine:

Re: Are Pyramid Inlays made of 1-pcs-inlays or parts?

you have probably seen this http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/3dinlay1.htm

Ive used solid pieces of coloured plastic and jointed them together before....
ive superglued them and yuo dont get a joint line, just a change of colour.

teh other way I suppose is to use acetone and "melt" the pieces of solid plastic together before sanding out imperfections....

ive never tried the vinyl under clear acrylic route... seems a little 'cheap' to me.

That makes a lot of sense and probably is how they did them. It would save a lot of manufacturing effort.
