Smile Question about Chromed JS's

I've been thinking about this and perhaps some of you can add more hypotheses (that's the plural btw, lol) to this.

As most of you are familiar with the Chromed JS's in general and know of the quirks associated with the finish and since I started thinking about this a few hours ago before I went to bed, I came up with the following thoughts...

I was thinking that Ibanez should've looked at a PRS guitar and see how highly lacquered those guitars are finish wise (esp. the ten top ones) and perhaps use that on the chromed js guitars.
Then I thought to myself "but how would it look if they were to put a thick coat of lacquer on that guitar?, would it add extra weight to it? Would the chrome look dull or would it look even better?"

Sorry for the silly post but I just wanted to get some input from the rest of you and see what you guys thought.

Thanks!

Jimmy

Re: Question about Chromed JS's

I don't think you can lacquer chrome because it has nothing to stick too..

Re: Question about Chromed JS's

The way they did the JS2PRM is pretty original, by the way. Powdered aluminum... That's pretty cool.

Sigh. If only Ibanez would find a way to make a chromeboy that's affordable to most people. And make that a production model. And not a $5000 guitar. That's just a rediculous amount of money.

Speaking of $5000 guitars: In a way, I hope I won't like the JEM 20th. Because then I won't have to feel bad about not being able to purchase it.

Kind regards,
Myst and rain

Probably to keep the chrome from peeling.

Adam,

Obviously you don't own one and have no idea how fragile the finish is.

Thank god for sites like this... when I found out the JS10's were out, I was going to trade in my FP for one (because like everyone, I've always wanted a chrome Satch Axe), but thank god, here in Australia, we had a delay on getting them here and I had the chance to read all the horror stories about the finish. In my opinion, Ibanez should reimburse everybody who bought one. If I paid that much $$$ for a guitar that peels like the JS10 did/does...man, there would be a Massacre down at the old Ibanez factory.

There should of been a warning on them... "if you dont want this guitar to peel and lose it awesome looks, dont play it"

Re: Question about Chromed JS's

X2 what Dutchie said....

also they say the Jem7MR is also quite easy to scratch and to damage the mirror finish...not to mention the peeling top..!

Question Re: Question about Chromed JS's

Hi,

Has anybody got some pictures of a degraded JS10 (Rich?)

I'd like to see what happens and how it looks.

Regards,

JP

Re: Question about Chromed JS's

Any guitar that need to be played with special clothes and such..is not worth it....

Id hate to be consious of the guitar when I play it.... I rather wail away and jump, then to appear like a robot because the guitar scratches so easily....

in my opinion Chrome JS and the Jem MR are museum guitars... you drop them scratch em ..and you are history

I think Joe put something on the body to act as a pickguard
I've seen that in his new DVD
