Question about fake JEM's

For any of you who have played them, in all honesty (knowing their fakes), how well do they play?

I'm aware of the fact compared to a real JEM they are dirt-worthy, but compared to say, a RG 350-DX, how do they play?

The reason is though I'm very happy with my RG 350EX, a friend of mine is looking for a whitish guitar for a good price and is wondering if he should completely skip over the fake jem's because they are worthless and get a 350DX, or get a fake JEM because they (may) play mildly well, fully knowing it's a fake.

Re: Question about fake JEM's

But why would you pay the same amount for a fake (once you pay the ridiculous shipping) as you could for a real Ibanez, albeit not a Jem or other high-end model? I mean, your friend can play your 350 and if he's satisfied with that, just get a similar Korean-made Ibanez. I'd be stunned if its quality and playability didn't whip a Chibanez from here to next week. And if he's not satisfied with the 350... a "fake" most certainly will not be the way to go.

Re: Question about fake JEM's

There are 2 things that you need to know about Chibanez.

1) They have NO truss rod. There is NO way of adjusting it.
2) The build quality is similar to if I tried to build a space rocket in my back garden.

My main piece of advice is to stay the hell away from them !!!!

Re: Question about fake JEM's

dude, don't even think about it. it is the single most worst playing guitar you will ever find in the universe, and all of it's entirety. the action is so high, like 3/4 of an inch off the fretboard, it's nearly impossible to play. plus the one i was unfortunate enough to play had a mismatching headstock, a trs trem, a hideous headstock, and an even more disgusting monkey grip. don't even think about it dude.

Re: Question about fake JEM's

Never buy a Chibanez. NEVER! I don't need to play one to know they are absolute ****. Tell your friend to stick with a cheapo new Korean Ibanez, or better yet, look for a second-hand RG550, gradually restore it when funds permit. In the end he will have a far superior instrument.

I know as I bought one from Woody Custom that they import from China. I thought with my knowladge I could mod it into an OK guitar. It just had an allen key head under the cover that span round freely as if it wasn't connected to anything. The pups appeared to be made from fridge magnets and all in all it was an utter dog I was glad to be rid of........................

.....Although I actualy made a tenner profit on it, so all was not lost.
