Re: Refinished BSB

Check out both the BSBs on the cataloge section of this web site, its very blue indeed and its brand new. They must deteriorate over the years.
I am pleased with how mine looks now.I always wanted one when they first came out, they were very differant from the other jems at the time but still complyed with the idea of a jem,ie to be differant from the norm.

Re: Refinished BSB

The reason BSBs turn green overtime is because basswood is a yellow wood..it absorbs the blue pigment & turns the guitar green.

Re: Refinished BSB

How did you proceed exactly??
Did you put off the pickgard? unscrew the neck?? was the guitar totally in pieces??? I'm curious to know..
If you have pictures of your work that would be nice!

Re: Refinished BSB

I got the dye from a supplier called Lawson HIS.Here is a link to there site, direct to the page where the dye is,Briwax Hydrocoat water based wood dye.
You get 250ml of stain witch will do about 100 guitars, honest you dont need much.

Sorry but I didnt take any shots of it when I stripped it.
I took the neck off,the pick guard off, trem off, every thing came off down to the bone.

I should have taken some pic of the rear of the guitar befour as it was well worn, but you live and learn.
