reissue guitars

there is such a big market for reisue items now days you would think that ibanez would jump on the band wagon and capitolize on this.nike and mr jordan have been banking on the retro air jordan shoes for the last 5 years, releasing one model per year in different colors along with jordans latest technoligy shoes.does anybody know if ibanez will be doing this in the near future.us jem lovers are making our own money now and we aint gettin any younger.

AS far as I know Ibanez has no plans to "re-issue" any models at this time. There have been reissues in the past though, both the old Randy Scruggs Les Paul type with Vine inlay, and the RG550DY were both reissued a few years back.

I guess we'll just have to keep waiting and hoping.

How about if they reissued their entire older Jem line, in limited number, with AANJ. That would be way cool.

Reissue of RG550 and RG570....................not really attractive, right?

I could see Ibanez reissuing some of the Jems. I think one of the big problems is that several of the line were done in colors that were trendy then and butt-ugly now. The ones that are classics i could see them potentially doing re-issues of. here's the ones I hink are most likely of the bunch:

-Floral-there's plenty of these around but they're the most classic of the line.

-PBK-First one, pretty rare and pretty timeless in its styling.

-RB-Another first offering that isn't as timeless but certainly isn't wholly hideous.

-Swirls-I think they might be tempted to do them on a very limited run. The market is retarded for them and they could cash in VERY easily.

they already did a swirls in a limited run: the DNA, and yes it was a lot of cash!

I say bring back the RG-7620. It's not very far in the past, and it's still a great guitar.

While you're at it, bring back the RG2027X, the RG565, the JS6, the BSB, the GMC, the.........

The list goes on and on. Unfortunately everyone has a relatively different favorite Ibanez list, and Ibanez can only accomadate so many people, while still making money.

That's why the RG2027X isn't in the States anymore. Not making money.

The K7? I have no excuse for that one.

I bet the JS6 would do really well now. There's a huge market for a fixed-bridge oiled-mahogany-bodied guitar with the most comfortable body style ever.

I'd really like to see a reissue PBK. It has to be one of my all time favourite guitars. Understated and very cool.
Although there are plenty of people here who would like to see various MCs and day glo colours reissued, I don't think they'd sell too well. Times have changed.

Washburn have just brought out the NX-6 in solid padouk, with the same hardware as the JS-6, but with a Nuno N4 style body. So they obviously think that sort of thing will sell.

So yes I agree that the JS-6 would sell well again today. It's very like the customs Mike Mushok uses (and his would-be signature model) but with the normal scale.

But I think a good choice for a re-issue would be the original yellow/pink and even green JEM777s, unfaded, mint condition examples of those guitars fetch a pretty penny these days.
