Rg to Jem? Should?

Okay, I had a topic last week on how I should trade my S2170 for an RG1570, and I did. Now lately I've been thinking, Should I return my RG, and just save up for a Jem. I fell in love with Jems ever since I started playing guitar, and I'm going to buy one in the future anyways, so why not return the RG for an extra 800 towards my JEM money. What do you guys think about this?

Re: Rg to Jem? Should?

Seriously? Completely built? I'm checking this out now. Thanks, good night.

How much do you think a double neck 7vwh would go for?

Re: Rg to Jem? Should?

I have also been looking at Legacy One stuff recently, and I was quite impressed. The only worry I had was regarding the fret work, well actually the fret slots. Take a look at this pic below -- those slots look way too deep. Maybe this pic is just work in progress? I'd like to think that this isn't finished and that the end result is flawless. Otherwise, it seems like a good idea to have something built.

You're right, and actually I messaged him about it earlier. Thing is, why put a pic like that on your website? It's not too encouraging.

The RG is a great guitar, yet the JEM is the full guitar experience, Tone, Feel, character & personality.

It's a lot of fun to run the race for JEM money.

Re: Rg to Jem? Should?

Have you played a Jem?

Try and find one first and play it then decide really how much better than your RG it is.

Re: Rg to Jem? Should?

Jem vs. RG.....same old story.

If you are wetting yourself for a Jem.....play the RG and save up for a Jem. Cause if you have the hots for a Jem, no RG will ever do.

If you just want a great guitar.....get the RG. No frills of the Jem will ever make it soooo much better then the RG. Unless you want the Alder body and the slightly better fretdress of the Jem.

Re: Rg to Jem? Should?

An RG with Di Marzio is completely comparable to a jem, features and soundwise. The playability will be slightly different since the neck profile is different, but that the only notable difference (and its not that the jem is better, it just has a different neck profile).

So, if its playability and sound that you are looking for, keep the RG and buy 3 Di Marzios.

Trade it in when you buy the JEM, just keep it in good nick.

Re: Rg to Jem? Should?

Okay, heres what I want to do. Return my RG1570, Trade in my Rg370 for about 100 (if im lucky), and get a job. In about 6-8 weeks, I can get a JEM.

Re: Rg to Jem? Should?

Like Lance said "its not about the bike"
in this case, its not about the axe - RG's are great guitars, no-one here will tell you otherwise...
A well set-up RG is a joy to play,... enojy it ... or if you go for the JEM - enjoy that also......
