Road Case for Universe - Anyone done this?

So I picked up a road case for my Ibanez Universe off of eBay. *It showed up yesterday and I knew I was going to have to do some cutting of the foam inside to fit the specs of the guitar. *However with the Universes longer and tilted headstock I had to just about cut down to the bottom of the foam through the support layer to get it to fit.

I'm thinking maybe I should just get a smaller support layer of foam and a larger cut-layer to see if I can get a better fit. *Anyone had this sort of issue with road cases and 7 string guitars with the more pronounced and extended headstock?

Road Case for Universe

the original jem case was a bit shorter and would not fit the UV headstock properly. Since the UVs came out, the pink cases were about an inch longer to clear the headstock. What Ibanez case do you have? If you travel alot, I would buy a new case before cutting the foam... so there is more protection and clearance if the case is bounced around.

It isn't an Ibanez case....it's a road case.

I wanted something that I could fly with and be ATA approved. *I'm not sure the Ibanez cases are ATA approved. *The road case I have is also MUCH more solid than the standard hardshell cases. *It weighs alot but I'd bet the silly thing would take a bullet.
