A Satch Present For Me

I went into the local music store to return a few wifely presents and a JS700 was being traded in so I bought it. This one has two P-90 pickups and a nice deep red-stained finish.
This is my first venture (with Ibanez) outside the world of JEM's.
I'll give you a full report in a few days!

I reckon you know that the JS700 has singlecoil pickups and thus ain't tooooo representative for JS guitars.

nevertheless a VERY nice guitar i envy you for... i play very bluesy and therefore this guitar would fit nicely to my wall
love the finish, btw (it's the only finish for the 700, tho, if i remember correctly)

ah, yeh, and it's made of mahogany, i remember? damn... i'd love one of these, how much did ya pay? they go quite cheap i heard

have fun with it (MIJ or MIK, btw?)

It's MIK. When I tried it and heard those P-90's I thought the same thing- BLUES,BABY!!!. Condition is 9.5. It's got a hard-tail very reminicient of a PRS. Nice ax, these cost next to nothing compared to some JEMs I've procured, so it'll probably stick around awhile. My main ax lately since I'm currently JEMless has been a 1970 Strat. This JS will make a decent backup, especially when I score my next JEM.

Why the hell would they make a JS with singlecoil P-90's? I don't think he's ever played a P-90 guitar- ever.??!!

He's got over 70 custom jobs with more configurations than I can remember, all used for recording in one way or another. When he has a custom made the company thinks they can market then a new model hits the stores.

never heard of a js with p90's so went and checked out the JS site from links section. the pics of it look very very cool. kinda like the gibon les paul junior.

how much does the 700 go for?

Wow, I finally sat down and played it till I was sweating (about 2 solid hours) which includes playing along to Jonny Winter and SRV CD's along with scales. Can't wait 'till the band comes over for rehearsal.

The whole vibe for this ax is in the neck pickup. Solos sound like a woman's voice through my Marshall rig. -really a warm female register. There's plenty of sustain when the head is barely breaking up and it's so melodic - I'm really pleased. This is my first guitar with P-90's and man, I LOVE IT. Now I must go play a Les Paul with P-90's or the new P-100's. I think the slab Mahogany body makes a difference too.

I'm not sure what the going price is, but there is one on Evilbay right now starting at $350...
