Satch tone from a JS100

Hi all,

Just being a bit lazy here and not doing my own research!

Can someone tell me the "best" pickup combination to fire into a JS100 to get an authentic satch tone?

Cheers,
S!

Re: Satch tone from a JS100

I've decided to go with a DiMarzio Liquifire at the neck and Evo2 at the bridge.

Has any tried this combination in this guitar before?
Would like to hear opinions back from anyone who has.

S!

That combination sounds like it will get you MILES AWAY from satch's tone.
you mentioned good pickups, but nothing that satriani ever used.

I would have suggested FRED, Paf Pro, Mo Joe, Paf joe.

Fred for sure in the bridge, prob be able to dial in something with the liquefier using the amp eq and maybe roll of a little on the vol pot. As always EQ is a super important part of the tone

Re: Satch tone from a JS100

I thought I saw a video somewhere of Danny Gill getting decent Satch-like tone with the stock pickups in the JS100.

On a related note, I have an Air Norton (N) and Tone Zone (B) that was I meaning to put in one of my RGs, and was wondering a similar question... how close would those come to the FREDs and PAF Pro/Joe's, etc.?

Well, for me Satriani tone is more in his fingers and scales he uses than in the pickups or gear...the JS 100 stock pickups should be able to give you a good starting with a nice amp !

I've got a satch tone using a regular Norton in the bridge of my RG, and a Vox Tonelab ;-)

This horse was beat to death in several threads...lol.
Aside from going Frankenstein on Joe's fingers--I think the OP is looking for the closest gear solution.

Any of the DiMarzio Satch series, or PAF Pro will do it.
