satch trem system

Hi does Satch use the stock trem systems that come on standard JS100/1200 guitars, or does he use something else?

There's a lot of debate on the site over the relative merits of edge pro's / edge zero's etc.

Also, what PU does he use in the bridge position now: FRED or Moe Joe? And what's alll this about some of his guitars fitted with SD Pearly Gates?

Re: satch trem system

Satch uses a variety of JS's from different years, many of which have different specs.

Check out his website if you want more info, or maybe even give the search function a go?

Rock on!

Re: satch trem system

Joe's guitars use the original Edge. He uses both the Fred and Mo Joe. He used to have a guitar known as Pearly that had the SD Pearly Gates in it ... until it was stolen years ago. (He probably has something else with a pearly laying around these days.)

Re: satch trem system

On his last Solo tour all guitars had the original Edge.
He had several guitars with Fred and others with Mo'Joe and switched between them.
I have not seen a SD equipped guitar on that tour. Maybe he has one in the studio, but noone knows what he plays in the studio anyways.

I can tell you about his next tour in November...

Joe's always been a fan of the Edge, and uses it on almost all his guitars. His custom 7 string has a LoPro though.
The Pearly guitar was one of the Chromeboy prototypes, you can see it on the Live In San Francisco DVD.

Thanks Guys

What are the relative merits and sound characteristics of the the FRED, Mo Joe and SD Pearly gates in the bridge position? (I assume he's stuck with the PAF Pro all along in the neck position?)

Re: satch trem system

He also has the PAF Joe in the neck position of some. Fred was his first signature pickup, Mo Joe is supposedly just a bit hotter than the Fred. Not sure the rationale on Pearly Gates though.

Re: satch trem system

I've read that he uses the edge model trem with 2 strong springs placed in an arrow shape. Not sure if he uses any stabilizer system, not been able to find this information anywhere.
