Say hello to my lil' friend 1987 JEM7RB

Ok, so unfortunately I take pictures about as well as I play guitar, but here they are anyway. I recently got this 1987 RB (Serial Number 871406), and it is my favorite. The original pickups were included with the sale, and I will be putting them back in this weekend. I also have a floral, and a WH, as well as a couple 540R and a BL1025 blazer reissue. Oh, and a Jet King (I know they are cheap, but I had an empty space on the wall :-) ) The owner of the RB said he bought it from Rich at IbanezRules. The WH I bought from Rich, and the Floral I got from forumite OKStrat. I certainly don't have the collection that some of you do, but of my 26 guitars, 7 are now Ibanez, and I am thinking there will be more. I love these Jems. Sorry, the pictures are dark. Maybe I should take some outside where there is more light.

Hellow! Love that jem dude! would be cool if Ibanez could reissue the rootbeer color to another jem.

The old grip is the best, it works well with the body shape. Plus you can post letters to yourself through it, then go round the back and open them. Good score. I like the Root Beer JEM, it's a bit different. The new grip, for some bizarre reason, reminds me of toilets. Don't ask me why! I don't know!

On the other hand it is the old grip that I don't like on the Rootbeer Jem. I believe it is unpractical and too big. It looks like it was made because it was simple to do. the newer one looks like some thought was put into the design.
On my rootbeer project I opted for the newer style grip...

I haven't even owned 6 guitars, never mind 26! I've been a player since 1979, too. There are 15 year old kids out here with more guitars than me. I am hugely grateful to have just a couple of guitars, though. There are plenty of people out there with none who'll probably never own one.

Re: Say hello to my lil' friend 1987 JEM7RB

The point I was trying to make is that Ibanez guitars are becoming a larger percentage of what I own and like to play. I grew up around the Fender and Gibson philosophy here in the midwest US, and if it wasn't "American Made" then it was considered inferior by the folks around me. I didn't know any different at the time, so I believed them. It didn't help matters any when in high school all I could afford was a cheap Hondo II Les Paul copy. Although it was good enough to learn on, it was a horrible guitar compared to more expensive better built instruments I have now. I still have a few strats and a les paul or two, but they get very little playing time now since discovering the JEM. Now I just need to get the amp situation sorted out. After reading posts here for a while, I purchased a Legacy Head. It sounds ok, but not completely what I was hoping for. I do not have the legacy cab, and I think that may be the difference. The legacy has tremendous power and the lower end just dominates. I am looking to get a little more high end out of it, and I think the vintage 30's in the legacy cab might do it?

Yeah, I like the old grip looks, but never seen one in person or held it, so can anyone tell me if there are any serious comfort faults or anything like that?
