scalloped jem

Hi
anyone have any experience of fully scalloped JEMs?
I.m about to try this on an old FP88.
Oppinions?

i recommend against it. the inlay will suffer and value will plummet. Get a cheap RG and work from there... glen

i agree with glen 100%. however you could get an rg neck off ebay and put it in the jem.

Or buy a scalloped Warmoth neck. I just discovered they fit RG style bodies(old neck joint). http://www.warmoth.com/common/frames/necks.htm

Although, you'd be better off with the suggestions above since they obviously know what they are talking about, I did recently find a scalloped JEM on the net (not the vine inlay though). This was done by Matsu****a Kobo, one of the most famous customization shops here in Japan.

I met someone who has a PBK with a fully scalloped neck. No resale value (or very little) but he loves it, which I guess is what matters. Fully scalloped necks are a bit weird, although I have never given mtyself long enough to get used to one.
