Shocking Pink JEM Question

I got a Shocking Pink JEM today with the Pink vine. Great looking guitar. 1989 model. Bought it from a friend of mine and he was the original owner. The guitar has never been touched, repainted, etc.....something I noticed that I have never noticed before that I wanted to ask you guys about.....the trem cavity is black, not green like I've always seen. I can tell by looking it it its factory, and besides he's never done anything to it, and he bought it brand new. Its even got a few small chips in the trem cavity and its just bare wood, no green under the black.

So my question is, is this rare? I've never seen black in the trem cavity of a Shocking Pink JEM....has anynody else? Serial number is 8900555. (Could possibly have 3 zeros, can't remember) Also, ANY idea how many Pink ones were made with the pink vine? I know they were only made 1 year so they've got to be pretty rare right?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Shocking Pink JEM Question

Yes, the Jem777VSk does come factory with the black lions claw cavity, they are rare, made one year with very few making it over to the states back in the day.

About the time the VSK was released (1989) they dropped the 777SK due to major fading complaints, and of course the VSK went along with it. This is what I gathered from the buzz back then.

Enjoy the machine!

I don't think I'll ever sell this one, unless of course somebody makes me an offer I can't refuse. I wish somebody knew some kind of production #'s on this model....I wonder if theres less than a 1000?

I'm not sure about that one, but I wouldn't sell it for any kind of offer.
