.. So I walk in to a store and I should pay how much for a new jem7v?

I've been lurking and reading posts and I'm taking my JPM4 (not mint) to get priced by a few of the shops in the area and two have jem7v's for 2599.00
I've been playing them at stores for years but my last two purchases were taylors. I'd love to have a great electric again and I love the neck on these guitars. I haven't seen any used ones around here and I'd prefer new anyway..

Is there any leverage?

There is one in the classifieds--that's where Jemsiters post gear for sale/trade.

Yes, check your private messages.

I am but one of very many who would be happy to vouch for Rich, and any deal you may pursue with him. You will not be disappointed if you decide to buy from him.

No one should ever buy a new Ibanez from anyone but Rich Harris.

Re: .. So I walk in to a store and I should pay how much for a new jem7v?

There was a guy a few years ago whose case got a small hole in it from UPS. He was a grump and acting pretty childish about it, and to say I'm particular about things, this guy was a definite overboard OCD case, definitely the type very difficult to make happy. Anyway, I put in the claim and UPS actually approved it, and I ordered him a new case, which unfortunately [TJC cases] had to come from Japan. As soon as he found out from UPS I got $200 for the claim, then he didn't want the case anymore, he wanted the money. I had already special ordered the case [no backing out on that] so he posted a thread here stomping his feet about how I was trying to screw him out of his claim money [or something like that]. It's been a long time, the details are fuzzy. Somebody suggested I just send him one from an in stock guitar, which I really didn't want to do the way the guy was acting, but that's what I did, and held a new uncased guitar I couldn't sell for 3 months until the case came in.

That's the last one I remember

Did HE put in the claim? No?

Well then how was it HIS claim money? You did the paperwork, you went the extra mile to make sure your customer got what he paid for, in the condition he expected it... and I'm sure you didn't end up with anything extra in your pocked from the claim money since you had to pay for, and ship, the new case from Japan, plus shipping for the case you did end up sending him.

I got out of working on guitars when I came back to NJ, I work with computers and at wonderful Wal-Mart, and I'd prefer a stack of fubared computers every day to the idiots I have to deal with at WM every day.

You just can't make some people happy, no matter what you do...

Anyway, it's been a long time Rich. I'm glad you're still around here and your business is still doing well. You may be getting an order from me soon... I never did replace that bridge on my 550 (I doubt you remember when I asked you about getting a regular black Edge for it), but I'll save all those details for the email if/when I send it.

It's only been a couple years, that's a bleep on the clock

When you deal with 10's of thousands of people you know how the odds are of getting people you can never please, and complete tools that are total asswipes, there are plenty to go around. Good thing the majority are just normal Joe's that are very easy and even very pleasurable to deal with.
