That is the least musical I've ever heard him. I fully blame the guitar!

Ha !! Have to agree though. Is it my imagination or is the chord progression the same as The Riddle by Steve Vai? If it is then I much prefer what Steve did with it....

I couldn't peg which but it's definitely based on an early Vai, or, is Vai's actually based on an early Satch? Or, is it something they both used to jam together to and Steve made the best recording of it?

Hmmmmmm.

Interesting thought - I guess many of their things may have came from previous jams....seem to remember Joe saying that Satch Boogie was something that evolved from when he was having lessons (he says it on The Satch Tapes I think...haven't seen it for about 10 years)

This might be stupid, but hasn't he got a Power on the cover of Not Of This Earth? Then again that doesn't mean he played it I guess, but I would have thought it was his.

I can´t remember clearly but was Stu Hamm the bassist on the Riddle? And was Stu the bassist on that tour? Maybe that´s the link. I need to check back P&W credits.

Yes - he is holding a white Power on the cover of the "re-release" of "Not of This Earth" that was released after "Surfing" hit (right before "Flying in a Blue Dream" was released). The photo looked like it came from the same shoot as the ad with the Power.

However, I never knew that he had used the Power until I saw that video; I thought that although he was in the ad he always used the Radius model.

He used the white P for a video [Satch Boogie?], it's on Real Satriani or Satch Tapes.
