sound diferences between JEM 90th and RG3120???

hi ya'll
I've a RG3120 prestige, with a pair of dimarzio evolutions and i'm pretty satisfied with the sound of my guitar, but there is a JEM 90th in my cowntry, for Us$1900. I'm thinking about selling my RG3120 e buying the JEM, will i note any sound diference? i love the mahogany/maple body of my guitar and i heard that basswood is a cheaper wood... is it true?
The finish of the 90 is unbeatable, but what about the sound?
Thank you
best regards

A wood costing less means nothing, the sound it gives is all that matters.

It sounds to me like you really love the sound of your 3120 as it is, and that you want the finish of the 90th.
The two guitars will sound differently, I'd try it out to see if it would fill your needs sound wise.
Any chance of having them both? Or refinishing you 3120?

Basswood is *cheaper* but not a *Cheapo* wood by any means. Lots of people prefer the sound of basswood sod dont worry about that

yeap dude, that's the point... i love the sound of mahogany with maple, but the 90th is really new and with an unbeatable finish. There's no way to me to try it before buy or keep the 3120 and buy the 90th. i'm thinking about buying the 90th 'se i can sell my 3120 around here for about U$1200 and buy the 90th for about U$1900 that's an unique oportunity... i was justin doubt about the sound, but i dont think ibanez would make an special edition that costs this much with a bad sound even sound beeing really personal.

Thank you guys and sorry for my bad english...

Your english is good enough.

I'd say that if there's no way for you to try the guitar first or own both of them for a short time so that you can decide between the two, then you shouldn't take the risk. It's not worth the risk - there *are* some people on this board who prefer 3120's to Jems.

I don't think you will be dissapointed with the sound of the 90th. I've always felt that my 90th has got a very bright tone. The RG505 has got a much smoother, darker tone. So I wouln't say that the 90th is a guitar that you could use for everything, but it still is a VERY good guitar.

But if you have no chance to try it, then don't buy it. Unless you absolutely need the 90th.

(Oh, I see now that you are going to keep the RG3120. I should really start reading through every post before posting myself.)

Ah, time for my coffe break!
