Steve Vaiís Guitar Collection Updated

This seems appropriate here:
https://www.vai.com/guitars/

Overall, it is pretty interesting. Some guitars are even thought provoking...

Re: Steve Vaiís Guitar Collection Updated

There are some awesome guitars there for sure...

This is my favorite, hands down: https://www.vai.com/guitars/jem-77-prototype/

Also some interesting tidbits there. Not surprised at the sheer number of white jems he has, but surprisingly seems like the BRMR might be the next most repeated guitar, I think I counted 6 of them.

Then this one, https://www.vai.com/guitars/ibanez-jem777lng-3/ It say there he had 2 LNGs made by the custom shop in 2008...

Also, I saw a lot of pictures and videos of him playing a seafoam green jem (custom shop I assume) on the latest Generation Axe tour, but didnt see that or his custom shop woody in the gallery.

Re: Steve Vaiís Guitar Collection Updated

This guitar is the one that caught my attention:
https://www.vai.com/guitars/jem-custom-shop/

This would actually be the most ďpracticalĒ guitar in some musical situations mainly due to the quarter-tone fretboard/Edge bridge and Sustainer. There are not many guitars like this available for good reason. But there some reasons that would really benefit from such an instrument.

Vantablack is really cool. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vantablack
Ibanezí attempt at imitating Vantablack missed the mark but created a nice color none the less. The idea has been proposed before, Iím glad Ibanez chose to pursued it.

Maybe this is the reason why I can’t play so well, but I count like 15 or 16 frets per octave!

And yes I love the colour scheme of this one, it’d be good on a new Premium Jem for a year or two. There’s a Mercedes CLS round near near that’s in that sort of finish on it, it looks like it is covered in black carpet... it looks better on the guitar.

Photos are not clickable (I know the names are) and lighting and backgrounds are a mess.
There's at least 10 people on here who could have taken better photos and build a better website.
I mean it's better than nothing but it's pretty bad for 2019 when even phones can take better photos.

Re: Steve Vaiís Guitar Collection Updated

This is not even in focus.

I know I'm being negative and that not all guitars are in the Harmony Hut. I know this is better than nothing and I will spend some time looking through these guitars, just wished it was all done better.

You are right. Nevermind about the practicality aspect. The color scheme is nice though.

The no-color scheme, actually , hehe

I 'd like to know the story about those more-than-12-frets per octave though

Re: Steve Vaiís Guitar Collection Updated

It would be an immense task for Steve, but new notes about the guitars, why he keep them in his collection, why he did some mods on them, where he used them on the records and so on would be much appreciated specially if close up pics where attached.

As would I. The description says, "24 frets to the octave," but I think he meant "16 frets to the octave." The story is probably somewhere in here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal_temperament

Re: Steve Vaiís Guitar Collection Updated

We've discussed this Xavian scale (16 frets per octave) here in the past. Obviously this is a new guitar but Steve has old guitars with 16 frets per octave.

Re: Steve Vaiís Guitar Collection Updated

Have you seen the Ibanez Superstrat custom made for Steve? It is an AZ model! Maybe some day we will see another Vai model in the AZ range.

I remember the days when we used to bust on black guitars around here.
That said - DO WANT!!! WOW!
As a standard 24 fret I mean....

Thank you! What started as the most interesting guitar in his collection is now just a dull, grey Jem.
