I don't get it.

What does "Just observe and wonder if the monkey grip waas for real?" mean?

It's a DNA, which is a JEM. Why wouldn't it be for real?

Not a great swirl either...ick!

the reason why those first pics looked fake for the monkey grip was most likely because the jems pic was taken in a case; thus explaining the texture you see in the grip. The backing texture, seen around the edges was most likely photoshopped into the photo...

The guy took the pictures in the case and then put a photoshopped back ground in it and forgot to but the back ground behind the monkey grip is all.

Steve donated some blood to be mixed into the finish, hence the "DNA" part of the name.
Is this true? [/quote]

Eeep!
Never noticed that, wow. I wonder how much blood he donated.
Imagine an ad with a pale-white Steve Vai with an IV hooked up to his arm holding a DNA. :P

A couple corrections there Glen,

DNAs from Hoshino USA came with J-Custom-like case (leather handle) with Purple lining; others came with a ATA type flight case.

Should read "All US DNA's came in a black UV1000 varient [or J Custom if you like but most J Custom cases I've seen were RG140 or UV1000 varients anyway], "leather" handle with purple lining. All others came with a ATA type flight case."

And

Guitar Center LA, CA's DNA Display Guitar - I just wanted to say something about the G.C. DNA guitar [that Steve gave to Guitar Center]. That guitar is the "proto type" and only that. That guitar does not even contain the DNA. As fact has it, when Steve got it, he played it for seveal weeks and loved it. But he was bummed that it didn't have the DNA on it. He also did not donate the DNA [to Guitar Center]

Steve didn't donate it of course, it's still his, just on loan in their "museum".
